The Aldergrove Farmer’s Market returned for its third year here on Saturday.

There were only four vendors but mamnager Malcolm Weatherston anticipates it will grow as the weather improves.

“We will persevere,” said Weatherston, noting that it will be a couple more weeks until even flowers are in bloom, thanks to the rains we’ve endured in recent months. He is hopeful that gardenproduce will be available at the markett soon.

The vendors at the Aldergrove market on Saturday included a jeweller, a bath “bomb” maker, and an essential oils maker. The location is the parking lot of the Alder Inn and the Fibromyalgia Well Spring Foundation on 272 Street.

Weatherston said the unfortunate closure of Extra Foods last year ended plans to open the Aldergrove farmer’s market in the former Aldergrove Mall parking lot.

Weatherston has been managing the Fort Langley Farmer’s Market for the past seven years and it has grown into a success, with about 30 vendors every Saturday at St. Andrew’s Church site on Glover Road.

Both the Fort Langley and Aldergrove markets run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays during the summer.
