The show home for Aldergrove's new Bertrand Creek development opens Saturday

Epic Homes is set to launch a new residential community at 28th Ave. and 276 St. in Aldergrove, bringing optimism to families looking to buy a home in an exceptional location, with the option of adding a legal basement suite.

“I think most people want the opportunity to be first to buy into a new community, and Bertrand Creek is their chance,” said Ryan Connolly, general manager of Epic Homes.

Fresh on the market, Bertrand Creek’s first release of single family homes will be ready before Christmas, and with the furnished showhome opening September 24th, homebuyers can see exactly what they’re getting — from the landscaping and architecture outside, to the colour scheme, features and finishes inside.

Nature trails, a dog park and a quiet setting just steps to Shortreed Community School have already perked the interest of over 200 potential buyers who have registered their interest in this new subdivision.

The 61 standalone homes are an anticipated addition for the Aldergrove neighbourhood — among the first new homes the community has seen in years.

Straddling the border between West Abbotsford and Langley, Aldergrove has experienced limited residential development over the last 15 years due to water and sewer capacity. In an effort to encourage future development, the Township of Langley has made impressive strides by updating its water supply with a $33.5 million effort to connect to Metro Vancouver’s clean and plentiful water system, as well as a recent extension of its sanitary system.

This humble “town” that got its beginnings in the 1870s as loggers and gold miners sought their fortunes, is rising again. Aldergrove's population is expected to grow from 12,000 to over 20,000 in the next two decades, and new residential development is being paired with new amenities, including a recreation centre in downtown Aldergrove with an outdoor pool and arena opening in 2018.

There's still the charm of raspberry fields, roadside stands selling farm fresh eggs and a drive-in theatre; yet the town is adapting with a new generation, offering restaurants and shopping, neighbourhood schools and regional parks.

"The entire team at Epic Homes is truly excited to work with the Township of Langley to open Bertrand Creek to families this fall and invest in the community of Aldergrove," said Connolly.

Bertrand Creek’s 20 acre site includes forests of red cedars and meandering paths connecting to the pedestrian bridges crossing over Bertrand Creek, the protected salmon-bearing watershed from which the community was named.

Situated on quiet treelined streets and culdesacs, the three and four bedroom homes with landscaped yards are designed and built to meet modern needs. From entertaining to raising a growing family, the homes include double side by side garages, open kitchens with stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors and large master baths.

Utilizing the newest construction materials, the homes at Bertrand Creek are energy efficient and have a charming Craftsman style with gabled rooflines, front porches, back patios, decorative rock accents, multi-pane windows and a nature inspired colour palette.

Homes range between 3,134 and 3,487 sq. ft. on approximately 4,000 sq. ft. single family lots.

The community is five minutes from the Canada/USA border, nine minutes to Highstreet Shopping Centre, 12 minutes to Abbotsford Airport and a commute of under an hour to Vancouver.

Bertrand Creek's sales centre and furnished showhome at 2778 275A St. in Langley opens at noon on Saturday, Sept.24th. The public is invited to stop by for a visit, tour the furnished showhome and explore the trails.
