New Toastmasters club starts up here

Aldergrove has a new Toastmasters club with the charter approval for Leaders Club Toastmasters, Club 2451110 as of June 13.

The new club meets Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 7 of Seventh Day Advemntist Church, 26245 - 28 Ave., Aldergrove. The new club has about 20 members and welcomes more to join. There is also a club that meets Mondays at the high school library.

Charter officers for the inaugural year are president Brad Whitsett, VP education Richard Bennett, VP membership Donna Plough, VP public relations Millie McConnell, secretary Leah Kwas, treasurer Pinder Mattu and sergeant at arms Wendy Terry.

The new club invites locals to think, listen and speak more effectively in a “learn by doing” workshop in a no-pressure atmosphere. Toastmasters is a non-profit organization, originally founded in 1924, and now has more than 280,000 members in 13,500 clubs in 116 countries.
