Aldergrove Fair goes mobile

With the 102nd Aldergrove Fair opening this Friday evening (July 18), organizers have launched a ‘smartphone’ version of the website designed especially for mobile phone users, to give easy access to information about the fair and the events scheduled for the weekend.

“Having a tool that you can bookmark on your phone will hopefully encourage fairgoers to attend more of our events,” said fair president Karen Long.

“You can click on the various links more easily as the sizes of the icons and text are better designed for viewing on smaller screens.”

“More people rely on their phones to get information these days, so we want to make it as easy as possible for folks to plan their weekend and enjoy their favourite part of this wonderful community event,” Long added. Also in an effort to take advantage of social media, the committee is challenging Fair Supporters to change their facebook profile cover photo to the Fair Days image to promote the website and the fair.

The fair kicks of at 6pm Friday with a show and shine at Aldergrove Secondary School featuring tractors (this year’s theme) — then the fair gets into full swing throughout the weekend with the parade downtown starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
