Aldergrove’s annual Fair Days Parade kicks off the Fair Days weekend, when colourful floats, antique cars, marching bands and more make their way through downtown Aldergrove on Saturday, July 15 at 10 a.m.

“We encourage you to get into the theme and groove out to ‘flower power’ with tie-dyed clothing, flowers and the cool music of the sixties,” said Fair Days spokesperson Karen Long.

There will be everything from antique vehicles and horse-drawn carriages to marching bands and dog walkers in the Aldergrove Fair Days Parade.

All floats must be lined up by 9 a.m. From 9 to 9:45 a.m. there will be judging of the floats and entries. Bands, marching units and drill teams should be in place by 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at 10 a.m. sharp. Prizes are awarded at 1 p.m. during the Fair’s Opening Ceremonies at the Fairgrounds.

The check-in point for parade participants is on Old Yale Road north of Fraser Hwy., just by 268 Street and across from the Aldergrove Community Policing Office. The parade ends at 273 Street.

FAIR DAYS SHOW AND SHINE

The eighth annual Aldergrove Fair Days Show and Shine is set for Friday evening, 6 to 9 p.m., July 14 at Aldergrove Secondary School’s parking lot.

Every year more than 100 unique cars, trucks and motorcycles participate in the free event.

There are classic, custom and hot rod cars as well as military vehicles featured at the small but friendly event.

“All types of vehicles are welcome,” says Patty Bennett, who organizes the event along with her husband Grant.

Any vehicle is welcome to participate. Pre-registration is not required. Dash plaques will be given to the first 75 drivers; there are no trophies handed out.

There is no entry fee or admission fee, and guests are also welcome to check out Friday evening activities at the Fair Days fairgrounds in the Kinsmen Community Park adjacent to the high school, located at 26850 - 29 Avenue.
