Langley’s local charities have caught the Giving Tuesday spirit and are banning together on November 28 to inspire charitable acts of giving in Aldergrove and Langley.

Following the successful shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, comes Giving Tuesday, a global charitable event that opens the giving season. It’s a day for charities, businesses and individuals in Langley to join forces and share a commitment to support local causes that are making a difference.

Whether you choose to make a donation, volunteer your time, help an elderly neighbour or work as an advocate and inspire others, Giving Tuesday is a movement everyone can take part in.

The #LangleyGives charity community, which included organizations such as Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation, Langley Hospice Society, Langley School District Foundation, and Volunteer Langley, will be hosting four drive-through events to promote Giving Tuesday and inspire donations on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Langley residents are encouraged to attend one of the four locations for a fun and tasty Giving Tuesday celebration. Make a donation on site or take a selfie to help promote the Giving Tuesday movement.

There will be two 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. “Get Up and Give” pancake breakfast locations:

• Langley Events Centre, 7888 200 St., Willoughby. Hosted by the Vancouver Giants and MLA Rich Coleman’s office.

• Aldergrove Legion, 26607 Fraser Hwy, Aldergrove. Hosted by Volunteer Langley and Otter Co-op.

There will also be two 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. “Grill and Give” Hot Dog lunch locations:

• Coast Hotel and Convention Centre parking lot, 20393 Fraser Hwy, Downtown Langley. Hosted by Langley Care Foundation

• Save-On-Foods, 8840 210 St, Walnut Grove. Hosted by Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Giving Tuesday volunteers will be accepting unwrapped toys for the Langley Christmas Bureau and donations to the Food Bank at all of the above locations.

The Aldergrove Pancake breakfast, brought to you by Langley Volunteers, is looking for anyone who would be interested in volunteering for the event. Please contact Karen Long at 604-418-9507 if you would like to volunteer or have any further questions.

Tables will be set up at the Aldergrove Legion location for people who would like to eat inside, and a station will be set up outside for ‘Drive Through’ service. Food and drinks are by donation.

Spokesperson Karen Long said, “A Photo Booth will be set up at the Aldergrove Legion location. Take a pic or video and share your story of helping others in your community. We’ve also heard that Santa will be visiting in the area and popping in during the breakfast.”

Special thanks to the Otter Co-op, JD Farms, Bonetti Meats, Krause Berry Farm and Estate Winery, Save On Foods Aldergrove, Boston Pizza, Milsean Shoppe, and McDonalds Aldergrove for their assistance.

Organizers are also asking the community to help promote Giving Tuesday by going online and using the hashtags #GivingTuesdayCa or #LangleyGives and sharing their stories on how they are giving back to their favourite charity.
