Langley Hospice Society is asking the public to vote for them in the Envision Financial’s #SimpleGenerosity community grant competition, which could help the Society win $50,000 to furnish and outfit the family kitchen and dining room at their new 15-bed hospice.

Voting is open until Friday, June 23.

The kitchen and dining room will be a space for families to connect with trained volunteers, share a cup of tea or a story and find support for themselves and loved ones.

The hospice is scheduled to open in 2019. The B.C. government provided $5 million. Construction begins this summer at the new location at 219A Street and 52 Avenue.

The new hospice will offer a home-like atmosphere with private rooms that open to outdoor green spaces. Currently, the 10-bed hospice is located at Langley Memorial Hospital. That one will close once the new hospice opens.

Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union is aiming to enhance communities for children and families by giving away a $50,000 grant towards a community-focused project, program or initiative.

This grant is one of three that First West is distributing to support organizations in the regions it serves for a total of $150,000 distributed in support of Canada 150.
