History at The Reach

The Reach launches its new Living History series on Feb. 17.

Speakers who have immigrated from Africa will share their reasons for leaving home, why they chose Canada and Abbotsford, and any challenges they have encountered in settling here.

"Through sharing personal stories we have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and to recognize that we are all individuals with a story to tell," said collections manager Kris Foulds.

Living History: A Story to Tell is presented in partnership with the Settlement Workers in Schools program, an initiative helping newcomers settle into their school and community.

The free event runs 6:30-8 p.m. at The Reach, 32388 Veterans Way.

Additional sessions will take place on March 10, April 28 and May 19.
