GoFundMe set up to help the Queen B’z dance crew travel to Arizona

A group of Aldergrove dancers are battling their way into the international spotlight this summer.

Queen B’z, an elite hip-hip crew of seven dancers ages 9 to 12 from Street Kings Academy, are heading to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete at the World Hip Hop Dance Championships from Aug. 7-12.

Led by coach and choreographer Paul Otterbein, the group recently won the junior category at the Canadian Hip Hop Championships in Ottawa on June 3, beating out eight of the top crews from across the country.

Now they will represent Canada against 4,000 dancers from 50 other countries.

“We love dance and we have been training very hard for this moment all year,” the group writes on their GoFundMe page that has been set up to help pay for their trip to Arizona.

“We are currently training for 15-20 hours per week and have finally accomplished our dream… a chance to go head to head with the best of the best hip hop crew in the world…”

The group is hoping to raise $5,580 to help cover flights, accommodations, training space rental and registration fees.
