Looking for some spooktacular fun in the Langleys this October? We’ve compiled a list of some of the best attractions that promise to give a few scares (and even some laughs) this Halloween season.

ALDERGROVE

Boo at the Zoo

Where: Greater Vancouver Zoo, 5048 264 St.

When: Oct. 20 to 31

Join the Greater Vancouver Zoo as they celebrate Halloween with many family friendly events. The Haunted Tunnel will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 21, 22, 28, 29 and 31, or head over to the info booth for pumpkin decorating between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 23-27. A night walking safari is on at 5:50 and 7 p.m. Oct. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29. And on Halloween, come to the zoo at 11:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. for a great pumpkin smash. BROOKSWOOD

Haunted Graveyard

Where: 4683 204 St.

When: Oct. 24 to 31, 5 to 9 p.m.

The Steger family is once again transforming their front yard into a haunted graveyard filled with many ghostly creatures. Admission is free, but participants are asked to bring a non-perishable item to be donated to Sources Langley food Bank. Read the Langley Times interview with the family here.

Halloween Family Fun Event

Where: George Preston Recreation Centre, 20699 42 Ave.

When: Oct. 29, 2 to 4 p.m.

The Township of Langley is once again hosting a family fun day for Halloween. Dress up in costumes and enjoy craft making, cookie decorating, story time and more. A second event is also being held in Walnut Grove. Register in advance at recexpress.tol.ca using barcode 527468. Admission is $2.

MURRAYVILLE

Brinkworth Dungeon

Where: 22260 48 Ave.

When: Oct. 13 to 31, Monday through Thursday, 7 to 10 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 8 to 11 p.m.

For the third year in a row, Murrayville’s Brinkworth Dungeon, known by many locals as the “spider house,” will be opening its doors on Friday, Oct. 13. Created by Barry and Tammy Brinkworth, the 3,500 square foot mansion of monsters features realistic wax figures from many famous horror films. New this year, are “Trapped and Terrified Nights” on Fridays and Saturdays, where participants are challenged to make it through the entire house alone. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children. FORT LANGLEY

Kids’ Fort Langley Halloween

Where: Fort Langley National Historic Site, 23433 Mavis Ave.

When: Oct. 29, noon to 5 p.m.

Parents looking for a fun, safe and not-too-scary event to showcase their family’s costumes are welcome to attend the Kids’ Fort Langley Halloween. Visit the Fort Langley National Historic Site for trick-or-treating, ghost stories around the fire and a Creepy Critters show with Mike’s Critters. And, for this year only, the event is free in honour of the 150th anniversary of the confederation of Canada. More details are available here.

Ghosts, Goblins & Ghouls: A Halloween Fun Fest

Where: Langley Centennial Museum, 9135 King St.

When: Oct. 28 10 a.m. to noon; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Calling all ghosts, goblins and ghouls. Dress up early and join the Langley Centennial Museum for a day of family friendly activities. Free face painting and creepy crafts will make any little monster smile. Cost is $10 per family. WILLOWBROOK

Trick-or-Treat

Where: Willowbrook Shopping Centre,

When: Oct. 31, 5 to 6 p.m.

Join Willowbrook Shopping Centre for a trick-or-treat inside the mall. Entry is by donation and includes a trick-or-treat bag and goodies. Proceeds from the event will go to the Langley School District Foundation. Call 604-530-4492 for more info.

WILLOUGHBY

Pirates of Yorkson

Where: 8393 209A St.

When: Nightly, 5 to 8 p.m.

Ahoy mateys, the Flying Dutchman has once again docked in Willoughby, but this year the ship is sinking! Pirates of Yorkson, a Halloween favourite, is returning to provide Langley families with some buccaneer fun. Donations will also be collected for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. R.E. Mountain’s Spooktacular

Where: R.E. Mountain, 7755 202A St.

When: Oct. 30, 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Students at R.E. Mountain will be handing out candy at classroom doors so that younger kids can trick or treat in the school. There will also be mini games, face painting, cookie decoration and a haunted hallway. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

WALNUT GROVE

Halloween Family Fun Event

Where: West Langley Hall, 9400 208 St.

When: Oct. 29, 10 a.m. to noon

The Township of Langley is once again hosting a family fun day for Halloween. Dress up in costumes and enjoy craft making, cookie decorating, story time and more. A second event is also being held in Brookswood. Register in advance at recexpress.tol.ca using barcode 524188. Admission is $2.

OUTSIDE OF LANGLEY

Fright Nights

Where: Playland, 2901 E Hastings St. Vancouver

When: Oct. 15, 18, 22, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31 7 p.m. to midnight; Oct. 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

B.C.’s most terrifying adult-themed Halloween event, Fright Nights, is back featuring eight haunted houses (including new attraction The Bloodshed), 20 rides and live performances. Not recommended for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.frightnights.ca.

Potter’s House of Horrors

Where: 12530 72 Ave. Surrey

When: Oct. 6-31

Two haunted houses with twice the terror and twice the fun. Potter’s House of Horrors features the Monstrosity and the Devil’s Descent. Lil’ Haunters (ages 12 and under) open from 4 to 7 p.m., family hour (all ages) open from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and regular ultra-scary show open from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are available online at pottershouseofhorrors.com.
