Noah's whole family wiped out by a car
Noah, the black bear cub, lost his entire family last Friday after his whole family, his mom and two siblings, were killed by a car in Squamish.
Now the 43 pound bear is living at Critter Care rehabilitation centre where founder Gail Martin said he is doing OK - "a little lonely though," she said.
Sadly, he was found by conservation officers the next morning hovering around the bodies of his family. Conservation officers tranquilized him and transfered him to Critter Care, the only centre in the Lower Mainland that can take black bear cubs.
He will stay at the centre until he is healthy enough and old enough to be re-released back into the wild in a designated, secluded spot far away from human contact.
Critter Care released 16 bears back to the wild in 2012. This is their first cub in months. It costs an average of $5,000 to care and feed each cub.
Critter Care's annual fundraiser Walk on the Wild Side is at Campbell Valley Park on Sunday, Sept. 30.
