Guns seized at border
An American’s attempt to smuggle a significant number of firearms into Canada was foiled by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers.
The border officers intercepted the firearms at the Aldergrove border crossing on Sunday, Feb. 10.
Officers seized a total of three handguns, seven large capacity magazines and two rifles (including an AR-15 rifle) from a U.S. resident coming from Oregon and seeking entry into Canada.
The traveller was subsequently arrested and faces several charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a restricted firearm, under the Criminal Code, and smuggling, under the Customs Act.
