A 68-year-old man who happened to be walking by the scene of a crash suffered head injuries when two SUVs collided on 200 Street near 66 Avenue in Langley Saturday.

Langley RCMP said a Jeep flipped over in the southbound lane when it collided with a Toyota around 11:30 a.m. while one of the vehicles was making a turn.

The Toyota jumped the sidewalk after impact and hit the pedestrian.

The injured man was conscious when first responders arrived.

He has been transported to Royal Columbian Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The occupants of the SUVs were also taken to hospital for assessment.

The two vehicles have been impounded by accident investigators, who were planning to review dash cam footage of the collision.

No charges have been laid so far, but the investigation is continuing, RCMP said.

Police closed all four lanes of 200 Street in both directions for more than four hours while accident investigators examined the scene.

Traffic on surrounding streets was severely congested as drivers tried to find detours around the scene of the crash.
