The Gateway of Hope is opening up the extreme weather shelter mats tonight (Wednesday) for the rain.

Tonight, the Gateway of Hope will open its Extreme Weather mats in response to the predicted rain accumulation. The extra mats are for one night only, as it looks like the weather will be dryer later in the week.

Due to the harsh winter Metro Vancouver has been experiencing, Gateway has had to call the provincially funded Extreme Weather Response program for most of December and January, due to snow, ice and freezing temperatures.

They have been running at 100 per cent capacity most of the winter but will not turn anyone away.
