One of the suspects in an attempted robbery at the Bradner General Store on Sunday night was carrying a baseball bat.

A crook toting a baseball bat was left behind by his three accomplices on Sunday night after they drove away from an attempted robbery at the Bradner General Store.

Abbotsford Police received a call at 5:45 p.m. that four masked men, one of them with a bat, had come into the store in the 5400 block of Bradner Road.

A female worker ran screaming from the store, which alerted her husband, who came to assist her.

Three of the men quickly fled in an older four-door grey sedan, but abandoned the fourth culprit.

That man then attempted to hit the male victim with the bat before he, too, ran away.

The female victim flagged down a passing motorist in a white pickup truck, and they came across the suspect as he walked north on Bradner Road.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the man was trying to blend in as a pedestrian but was carrying a mask and a baseball bat.

The driver and the victim confronted the man, although MacDonald wasn’t clear about what they did or said. They then returned to the store, and it’s not known where the suspect went.

That man is described as Caucasian, in his 20s, about 5’ 4” and with a thin build. He was wearing dark clothing.

Police are hoping to speak with the driver of the white pickup truck who assisted the female victim and to anyone else who might have information. They can call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225, text abbypd (222972) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-880-222-8477.
