A Langley City computer store that lost all of its laptops to a Sunday morning break-in has released a security camera image of the person responsible.

The “Three Smart Humans, All About Computers” shop at 20439 Douglas Crescent was robbed at 3:04 a.m. on July 23.

Two security cameras recorded the thief who smashed in the front door and made off with all of the refurbished laptops for sale, including a Toshiba Satellite C50, an HP Pavillon G6, Acer Aspire E1-571, HP G56 and an Acer Aspire 5741-6073.

The image shows an apparently male suspect with a medium build in a hoody, track pants and running shoes.

“He came in well prepared,” said Claudia Orellana Earl, one of the trio who operate the family-run shop.

“You can’t see an inch of skin. He had a bandanna across his face.”

She called 911 when the alarm in the store went off.

“The RCMP brought a canine unit within 15 minutes and there were two people outside who witnessed the B&E,” Earl said.

The man was not found.

Earl said there are six cameras in the store, four for live viewing and two that record footage.

“There is signage everywhere saying that the place is under surveillance,” Earl said.

Earl is asking the public to keep an eye out for the stolen laptops on bidding sites or pawnshops.

The Langley City store opened seven months ago.

Three Smart Humans previously operated a store in Chilliwack, which was broken into six times before they moved.

“Nothing deters these people,” Earl said.

“The Chilliwack (shop) had special locks, door plates, bars, cameras, etc. They still got in or made a mess trying to get in.”

Anyone with information that might assist the police investigation is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
