An RCMP officer is recovering in hospital from a crushed leg after saving a 15-year-old Abbotsford girl from being hit by a truck on Thursday.
Cont. Jim Moir has undergone reconstructive surgery and is said to be in good spirits, according to RCMP spokesman Sgt. Peter Thiessen.
"He is focused on his recovery efforts and the intense rehabilitation process. He and his family are amazed at the outpouring of support and praises from the public for his actions."
Buffy-Ann Troy was returning with her family from a funeral in Kamloops when their car slid off the road in freezing rain on Highway 1 near Yale. Moir, who works with Fraser Valley Traffic Services and had stopped to talk to the family, pushed her out of the way when a sand truck went out of control and careened towards them.
