A 71-year-old Aldergrove man was bear sprayed, his house was ransacked and his rare coins taken by two masked men in a home invasion on Tuesday.
The victim called 911 around 2:15 a.m. Langley RCMP along with the Police Dog Services and B.C. Ambulance went to the home in the 7000 block of 272 Street.
According to police, the man had been in his residence when he heard his dog bark.
Moments later two masked men appeared inside. One of the men bear sprayed the senior before both suspects ransacked his home. The suspects located a collection of old coins and then fled the residence with the coins, taking nothing else from the residence, said police. The coins have an estimated value of $20,000.
Police dogs were able to track the suspects a short distance to where it appeared they had a vehicle waiting. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for the bear spray, said Const. Craig van Herk.
The investigation into this home invasion remains ongoing.
