UPDATE: Amber alert for missing Coquitlam siblings cancelled

UPDATE: The Amber Alert for Mateo and Sofia Ruiz has been cancelled.

An Amber Alert has been issued by Mounties for two children missing from Coquitlam.

Mateo Ruiz, 8, and his sister Sofia, 9, were allegedly abducted near Fraser Avenue and Larch Way by their mother, April Pastor. Coquitlam RCMP issued the amber alert at about 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Pastor, 36, was last seen possibly wearing a nylon ski jacket and jeans.

Police believe she is possibly traveling around the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley in a newer model, black, 4-door hatchback Ford Focus with an unknown license plate.

Police are asking the public to call 911 if they see the vehicle or suspect but are not to approach.

Mateo is described as:

  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Caucasian
  • Age: 8 years old
  • Hair: short brown hair
  • Eyes: blue eyes
  • Height: 5 feet
  • Weight: 85 lbs

Sofia is described as:

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Caucasian
  • Age: 9 years old
  • Hair: shoulder length light brown hair
  • Eyes: blue green eyes
  • Height: 5 feet
  • Weight: 90 lbs

April is described as:

  • Gender: female
  • Race: Caucasian
  • Age: 36 years old
  • Hair: brown
  • Eyes: blue
  • Height: 6 feet
  • Weight: 181 lbs
