Fraser Highway was closed Tuesday afternoon between Ross and Bradner roads following a serious crash.

A 56-year-old man died Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a van in the 28900 block of Fraser Highway in Abbotsford.

The Harley Davidson collided with a Dodge Caravan at around 2:45 p.m.

Police say the motorcyclist was using the shoulder of the road to pass vehicles going westbound. They say the van was headed in the opposite direction and making a left turn “when oncoming traffic had stopped to allow it.”

The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the van and severely injured the rider, who later died in hospital, the release states.

The two female occupants of the van were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text abbypd (222973).
