Updated: Head-on collision in Langley sends one to hospital

Witness reported near-miss shortly before collision of pickup and commercial flat deck truck

Police are looking witnesses to a head-on collision that sent a 27-year-old Delta man to hospital after his pickup hit a commercial truck on 16 Avenue in Langley.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 in the 21300 block of 16 Avenue .

Langley resident Aaron Sailer saw a white Ford F150 that matched the description of the pickup narrowly miss a head-on collision shortly before the accident.

Sailer said the truck used the left-turn lane on 16 Avenue at 216 Street to go straight through the intersection, almost hitting an oncoming commercial mini-van that managed to get out of the way by pulling to the side.

"It flew past me (and) ran them off the road," Sailer told The Times.

Langley RCMP said speed and alcohol were likely factors.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the commercial flat deck truck, a 65-year-old from Lynden, Wash., was uninjured.
