FUNK, Gertrude of Aldergrove, B.C. went home to her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2004. She was born November 6, 1930 in Blumenort, Saskatchewan to John and Helena Goosen. The family moved to Greendale, B.C. in 1944. She married Peter Funk at age 22. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. They have been members of Ross Road Community Church over the last 26 years, where they have been active in many ministries. She was kind and considerate and strove for honesty and integrity in all that she did. It was her desire that the Lord be glorified in her life and in her death. She will be remembered as a strong prayer warrior. She enjoyed volunteering at the MCC, vacationing, gardening, canning, baking, fellowshipping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is mourned by her husband Peter Funk, of Aldergrove; her 2 daughters and their husbands, Sylvia and Rudi Pauls, and Colleen and Lawrence Isfeld, of Abbotsford; her 2 sons and their wives, Gary and Paula Funk, of Abbotsford, and Bob and Johanna Funk, of Puyallup, Washington. She is also the beloved grandmother of 12 grandchildren and sister to 7 siblings. Visitation was held on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. Memorial Services were held Friday, December 31, 2004 from Ross Road Community Church, 3160 Ross Road, Abbotsford. Donations in Gertrude's memory may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.
