HOVDE; Marthe
Passed away after a brief illness on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the age of 85. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Oddvar Johannes in January of 2011. Marthe is survived by her children Nels, Ann (Mike), Marilyn (Rob), Marian (Brad); her grandchildren Katrina, Cole, Conor, Leandra, Ross and Freya. She leaves also her sister Marie, brother Ole and many other relatives in Norway. Marthe was born in Krodsherad, Norway in 1929 and grew up on a farm where life was very hard. Marthe survived the Second World War in occupied Norway, then in 1953 at the age of 25, she immigrated to Canada, following her future husband, Oddvar, who had arrived several months earlier. Marthe could not speak a word of English and the first few years in Canada were very difficult. They eventually started a mink ranch in North Surrey which they had for 13 years before moving on to real estate speculating and other ventures. Marthe was a very hard worker and a very generous person. She loved her garden and spent as much time as possible in it. Marthe also loved travelling and did so extensively. She will be greatly missed by all her family. Celebration of Life to be held at 26191 - 26 Avenue, Aldergrove on Friday July 24, at 1:00 pm.
