Canada a democracy?

Editor:

Canada's a democracy? We vote for our members of Parliament (note I did not say "representatives"), similarly to the American house. However, when an American representative disagrees with the party, he's unpopular.  When a Canadian representative disagrees with the party, he's unemployed.

The only way to guarantee you get to vote for our nation's leader is by joining every federal party. We have senators who are appointed by the leader we don't vote for. We have a Governor General, the last checkpoint for integrity before a law is created who is appointed by the leader we don't vote for.

The true north, strong and free?
