Minor baseball appreciates hometown

Editor:

On behalf of the Aldergrove Minor Baseball Association, I would like to once again extend my sincere appreciation to you and the Aldergrove Star for your continued support of Aldergrove baseball. The photographs and articles published throughout the spring season showcased our great community and increased the level of awareness towards our program.

The bat-a-thon is an annual event that Aldergrove Minor Baseball Association conducts as our primary fundraiser to support our season. AMBA has been raising funds for several years to invest in a dual tunnel batting cage and we are extremely delighted that this vision was achieved in time for our opening day ceremony with considerable support from the Township of Langley. Future funds go towards keeping registration fees at a nominal level so that it is affordable to all families, replacing player uniforms and team equipment as required.

Each divisional team player (from Blastball thru Pee Wee divisions) receives a prize for certain thresholds and sponsor donations allow us to award a prize to the player on each team that has hit the ball the farthest, the player who has received the most pledges and the team that has received the most pledges.

The following organizations donated prizes that were distributed to the kids for the 2011 edition of our Bat-a-thon and we are grateful for their support: Alder Alley Bowl; Aldergrove Vineyard Church; Castle Fun Park; Coast Mountain Dairy; Dairy Queen; Freybe's Gourmet Foods; MVP Sports; Panago Pizza; Prostock Athletic Supply; Subway.
