Aldergrove Community Secondary School's senior boys soccer team have qualified for the 2012 B.C. High School AA Championships in Burnaby this November 21-23.

The Aldergrove Totems posted six wins, one loss and one tie during league play this season in the Langley division, to top their group.

As a result they qualified for the Fraser Valley playoffs which started last week by hosting Samuel Robertson Technical school from Maple Ridge on Tuesday, Oct. 30. After going down a goal in the first half Aldergrove slowly took control of the game and eventually tied it up with 20 minutes to play. Then owning SRT in the overtime and capitalizing on some nice passing Aldergrove scored the go ahead goal in the second half of overtime for the win. This win put the Aldergrove team into the semi-final against the number one seed in the valley, Delview Secondary.

On Thursday, Nov. 1 the Totems traveled to Delta to take on the Delview squad and the teams looked up to the task, providing  some top quality soccer for the fans to watch. After the Totems lost two players to injuries the Delview side started to take control of the match but Aldergrove put up a strong battle, working extremely hard to keep the opposition away from their net.

At the end of regulation the score was 0-0 and the Totems used their experience in overtime from earlier in the week to stay in the game as well as create their own scoring opportunities. Overtime ended with the game still scoreless and the ensuing penalty kicks followed. Delview  missed on their first attempt and the Aldergrove shooters went five for five on their shots, giving them the victory and a spot in the Fraser Valley final on Nov. 8 against Arch Bishop Carney Secondary School and a guaranteed birth in the AA High School Championships, Nov. 21-23.
