Steelers put Kodiaks off their track

A lacklustre performance by the Aldergrove Kodiaks handed them their second loss in a row Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Aldergrove Arena against the Grandview Steelers.

The Steelers opened the scoring in the first on a power play at 2:41 and followed it with another goal before the Kodiaks closed the first period scoring on a power play at 17:22. Kodiaks' scorer was Scott McHaffie, assisted by his brother Spenver and Joshua Cronin.

The Steelers kept their 2-1 advantage throughout the scoreless second period, and it wasn't until 7:27 in the third that the Steelers scored their third goal. The Steelers followed it with another 90 seconds later, before the Kodiaks were able to notch their second and last goal of the night. Scoring at 14:27 was Kodiaks' Kenny Prato, assisted by Adam Callegari and Stephen Ryan.

The Steelers closed the scoring at 16:49 to end the game in a 5-2 win.

The Steelers outshot the Kodiaks 43-33.

The Kodiaks remain second in their conference with 19 points after 20 games (9-10-1-0).

The Kodiaks have a week off with their next game Wednesday, Nov. 21 at home against the Mission City Outlaws. Kodiaks captain Daniel Higgs will be returning to the line-up that night, as his broken wrist has now healed.
