The Aldergrove Kodiaks overcame a lacklustre start on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to ride to a 2-0 blanking of the visiting Mission City Outlaws.

The game finally livened up in the second half of the second period when the Kodiaks scored a pair of back-to-back goals.

First to score was a brilliant shot from Stefan Gonzales, a defender who has proven to be a major asset for the Kodiaks this season. His slap into the corner of the net at 13:36 was assisted by Scott McHaffie and his twin brother Spencer McHaffie.

Twenty-three seconds later Spencer McHaffie netted another, assisted by Scott McHaffie and Ryan Veillet.

The game was low on penalties, with neither team scoring on their power plays, three for Mission and two for Aldergrove.

Kodiaks keeper Mark Menicucci earned first star for the shutout, with second star to Gonzales and third to Spencer McHaffie.

Kodiaks outshot the Outlaws 39-34.

The Kodiaks stand at 21 points after 21 games (10-10-1-0), five points back of conference leaders Abbotsford Pilots. The Pilots visit Aldergrove, Wednesday, Nov. 28, puck drop 7:15 p.m.
