Kodiaks roar into sixth junior hockey season

Aldergrove Kodiaks are readying for their season home opener at Aldergrove Arena on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Aldergrove Arena.

The 7:15 p.m. tilt will be versus their arch-rivals, the Abbotsford Pilots.

The Kodiaks, the defending Pacific Junior B Hockey League champions, will be looking to repeat their performance of last season but with a large roster of rookies.

The club held its 2014-15 evaluation camp June 2-5, and so far their lineup includes:

#2 Evan Cusmano [rookie] defender, 6'1, 250 (16) of Abbotsford.

#5 Jacob Cronin [rookie] defender, 6'2, 205 (17) of Langley.

#8 Brandon Dolby forward, 6'1, 185 (19) of Chilliwack.

#9 Joshua Poitras defender, 6'0, 195 (18) of Surrey.

#12 Cameron Davitt [rookie] forward, 6'0, 180 (17) of Coquitlam.

#13 Elvis Jansons forward, - - (18) of Richmond.

#17 Nolan Wallinger forward, 6'0, 205 (19) of Delta.

#18 Maximilian Fritz [rookie] forward 6'0 165 (17) of Coquitlam.

#91 Quinncy Leroux forward, 6'0, 175 (18) of Langley.

#- Jordan Funk [rookie] forward, 6'1, 175 (17) of Surrey.

#- Matt Oliver [rookie] forward, 6'0, 180 (17) of Abbotsford.

#- Dryden Wust [rookie] forward, 6'0, 175 (17) of Aldergrove.

#- Jeremy Zomar [rookie] forward, 5'11, 170 (17) of Abbotsford.

The management team from last season returns with Rick Harkins as general manager and assistant coach,Brad Rihela as head coach, Tavis Eaton as assistant coach, and Kevin Persson as associate coach. Rick Long is head scout.

The Kodiaks have a pair of away exhibition matches set, starting this Friday, Aug. 29 against the Ridge Meadows Flames at Planet Ice, and Thursday, Sept. 4 versus Richmond Sockeyes at Richmond Arena.

The first home regular season game on Wednesday, Sept. 10 versus Abbotsford Pilots will be followed by an away game Saturday, Sept. 13, 6:45 p.m. against Mission City Outlaws at Mission Leisure Centre.

The new Langley Knights club hosts their first home game Thursday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. versus Mission City Outlaws at George Preston Recreation Centre.

The following week's Kodiaks schedule includes the home game Wednesday, Sept. 17, 7:15 p.m. versus Ridge Meadows Flames at Aldergrove Community Arena, and away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. versus Richmond Sockeyes at Richmond Arena.
