Aldergrove Kodiaks John Lee, Matt Oliver and Kyle Bosko each scored a pair of goals in an 8-3 win over the visiting Surrey Knights, Sept. 27 at Aldergrove Arena.
Bosko also notched an assist to make it a three-point night for the feisty Kodiaks veteran. Bosko earned the game’s first star, while Lee, a 16-year-old rookie, was the second star.
Oliver, the team captain also had a three-point night as he also notched an assist.
The result improved the Kodiaks to eight points after six games (4-2-0-0), while the Knights are stymied at one point after seven games.
Knights’ keeper Zakery Babin was outstanding in the net as he stopped 53 of the Kodiaks’ 61 shots on his net. Babin was the game’s third star.
Kodiak keeper Kenneth Kasdorf had lighter duty as he stopped 16 of the Knights’ 19 shots on his net.
Both teams scored twice on power plays.
Scoring for Aldergrove in the first period was Oliver, from David Stickney and Arjan Cheema, for a 1-0 lead at the top of the second period.
Kodiaks scored three more in the second period before the Knights responded with a pair, for a 4-2 lead at the end of the second period. Aldergrove scorers were Cheema, Lee (unassisted) and Jordan Desrosiers (on a power play), with assists from Desrosiers, Ty Pickering and Dayton Spink.
The Kodiaks scored four more in the third before the Knights responded late in the game with their final goal. Aldergrove scorers were Bosko (2, with the first one on a power play), Lee and Oliver, with assists from Oliver, Stickney, Dawsen Stone, Pickering, Clayton Schroeder and Bosko.
The Kodiaks travel to Abbotsford this Friday, Sept. 29 to play the Pilots, and the Kodiaks’ next home game is Wednesday, Oct. 4, 7:15 p.m. versus the Richmond Sockeyes.
