Aldergrove Kodiaks finally take a win

The Aldergrove Kodiaks finally put themselves on the win side of the ledger, with a 5-3 win over Surrey Knights, Thursday at North Surrey Rec Centre.

The Kodiaks outshot the Knights 21-5 in the first period but couldn’t find the back of the net as the Knights escaped the frame unscathed.

The Knights, which haven’t won a game in this season, were up 2-1 in the second period, before the Kodiaks buried the team under a flurry of third period goals.

Kodiak Clayton Schroeder scored the team’s only second period goal, unassisted.

This was followed by four more in a row, before the Knights finished the game with their last goal. Scoring for the Kodiaks were Evan Cusmano on a power play, Schroeder, Matt Oliver, and Schroeder for his hat trick, unassisted again.

Assists came from John Lee (2), Davin Padgham, Arjan Cheema, and Ty Pickering. Schroeder and Lee were the game’s first and third stars, respectively.

Th Kodiaks outshot the Knights 54-32 that night.

The result leaves the Kodiaks in third place in the Harold Brittain conference, with 12 points after 13 games (5-6-0-2).

The Kodiaks host the Port Moody Panthers on Wed., Oct. 25, 7:15 p.m. and travel to take on the division’s second place team, the Ridge Meadows Flames on Fri., Oct. 27. The Kodiaks then host the Mission City Outlaws on Wed., Nov. 1, 7:15 p.m. puck drop at Aldergrove Arena. The Kodiaks have two away games that week, Nov. 2 against the Richmond Sockeyes and Nov. 5 against the Grandview Steelers.
