Aldergrove Basketball Club Junior boys kicked off their Abbotsford Basketball Association fall league season with a hard fought 46-39 victory over Mission Secondary at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford.

Led by grade 9 shooting guard U’Shaun Campbell’s 22 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals, the ABC players came out flying from the opening whistle and jumped out to a early 14-4 lead before Mission could get their feet under them.

ABC’s small forward Jessiah Lomas chipped in with a solid six points, eight rebounds and four assists and was a huge factor controlling the flow on the offensive half of the court.

ABC led 26-14 at half, finishing with a strong surge at the end of the first half following the lead of grade 10 centre Michaels Adam’s 10 rebounds.

After letting Mission back into the game in the second half, ABC sixth man Jacob Kautzman’s 14 rebounds and Matthew Gerry pitching in with a huge basket and five rebounds helped lock the game down defensively and get the win.

Bryan Tran sealed the game with a huge rebound giving him 10 for the game to allow ABC to hold the ball until the final buzzer of the game.

Aldergrove Basketball Club’s next Abbotsford Basketball Association game is Sunday, Oct. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Columbia Bible College.
