Canada Winter Games: Auton shoots her way to silver

Maple Ridge's Erin Beckett and Langley's Kathleen Auton teamed up to win the silver medal for Team B.C. in the women's air pistol target shooting event on Tuesday at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

Langley's Kathleen Auton and Maple Ridge's Erin Beckett teamed up to shoot their way to the silver medal.

The pair are representing B.C. at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax in the women's air pistol target shooting event.

"It's overwhelming," Auton said. "There aren't words to describe the feeling."

The 19-year-old shot a personal best during the competition on Tuesday.

Auton and Beckett combined to score 710 points, narrowly losing the gold medal to the Yukon.

In the men's team competition, Fort Langley's Colton Muench and Vancouver's Dominic Chan narrowly missed reaching the podium. The B.C. pair placed fourth with 1,052 points. Ontario won gold with 1,073, while Quebec and Alberta took silver and bronze, respecitvely.

B.C. was a mere four points away from reaching the podium.
