A pair of local Dragonboat teams have earned themselves a shot at world glory.

The Fort Langley Canoe Club’s Fast and Furious as well as FLCC’s Titanium, both managed top five finishes earlier this month, booking their tickets for the 2018 International Dragonboat Federation’s world club crew championships.

They will be held in July in Szeged, Hungary.

The two local Dragonboat teams were in Welland, Ont. on Aug. 4 and 5 for the Canadian National Club Crew championships, needing top-five finishes in their respective categories.

Fast and Furious came through with a fourth-place finish in the senior B (ages 50+) division while Titanium was fifth in the senior C (60+) division.

The teams will continue training year-round — minus a short break in December — in preparation for July.

In addition to being on the water three times a week, they do their cardio and strength training at Aldergrove’s Power House Gym.
