More ice for Sportsplex

It was a simple case of supply and demand.

With less demand for the dry-land rink and more demand for ice time, Sportsplex has decided to add a third ice rink to their facility.

“There is definitely more demand for ice than there is for (the dry-land),” said Scott Hill, Sportsplex’s facility manager, who also runs Sportsplex’s highly successful Westcoast Warriors inline hockey program.

“Our roller hockey is pretty solid, but overall, dry-land usage has shrunk so this made sense,” he said.

The four-rink facility in Walnut Grove will have three ice rinks and one dry-land instead of the usual two and two.

Work is expected to begin in July and with a target opening date of late October.
