After falling behind early, the Trinity Western Spartans rallied for a 3-1 victory.
The Spartans hockey team was in Cheney, Wash. where they grounded the host Eastern Washington Eagles 3-1 in BC Intercollegiate Hockey League play.
TWU was coming off a 5-2 loss the night before to the Selkirk Saints at the Langley Events Centre.
The Saints lead the BCIHL at 10-0-0 while the Spartans are second at 6-3-0-0.
Kade Vilio, Stefan Gonzales and Kenny Batke had the Spartans goals as they outshot the Eagles 52-31. Goaltender Allistair Duncan made 30 saves for his first ever BCIHL victory.
“I thought our guys put in a 60-minute effort. I thought our compete level was high and we stayed disciplined,” said Spartans coach Barret Kropf.
“We put 50-some shots on their net and probably missed another 20, so we really buzzed around in the offensive zone and created a lot of turnovers.”
Kenny Batke and Brayden Brown had the TWU goals in the loss to the Saints.
The Spartans are back in action when they host SFU on Nov. 16 and Selkirk on Nov. 17. Both games are at the LEC with puck drop at 7 p.m.
