‘Extra’ food bank donations set B.C. record

Food bank donations set record at Aldergrove Extra Foods

A two-week campaign to raise money for local food banks at Loblaws/Extra Foods stores in western Canada was a huge success for the Aldergrove Extra Foods store.

Cash donations at the Aldergrove Extra Foods totaled $1,753.87, not including food donations. This was the highest cash amount raised at B.C. Extra Foods stores.

"We are one of the smallest Extra Foods stores in B.C., and even though the economy is not too great Aldergrove really stepped up," said Aldergrove store manager Ken Kendall.

"Only the Extra Foods in Fort McMurray, Alberta, beat us in western Canada."

The Aldergrove store has a bin for food bank donations every day of the year and excess produce from the store is given to Sources Langley Food Bank.
