The North Langley Community Church (NLCC) Aldergrove campus is continuing the tradition of Halloween parties on Oct. 31.
For a second year since merging with Bethel Mennonite Church, the NLCC is hosting a Community Halloween Party on Thursday, which will include a night of games, candy, and warm drinks.
Bethel was a church at the Aldergrove campus site for more than 80 years, explained pastor Kevin Schultz, and had hosted Halloween events for many of those years.
"When [we] merged, we wanted to continue the tradition of welcoming the community to the facility for a fun night of games and candy," Schultz said.
The event will feature some classic carnival-style games including ring toss, skee ball, and a fishing booth.
"I love seeing so many creative costumes. It was so fun to talk to so many people who have been coming to the church for Halloween for years and made it part of their family tradition. I'm so happy we continue with that tradition," Schultz shared.
The pastor will be at the event this year as well, and can be found likely "rocking an elf costume," he said.
"We've been given a massive gift by having a wonderful facility in a community we love. We want to use our building for our community. This is one way we hope to make our neighbours feel welcomed," Schultz added.
He recalled that last year was quite cold, so it's nice to have an indoor option for kids on Halloween.
The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. The Aldergrove campus of NLCC is located at 24687 56 Ave.
