Aldergrove Legion hosts ‘sweet’ food-and-fundraiser

The Aldergrove Legion provided the venue and Sweet Max played the tunes last weekend to help fill the cupboards of the Langley/Aldergrove Food Bank.

Many Legion members and guests were very generous with their donations of cash and non-perishable items during the Aug. 26 and 27 food-and-fundraiser.

Langley/Aldergrove Food Bank executive director Iain Mair and his wife Bonnie expressed their thanks to Aldergrove Legion and the local community for their support.

The Langley/Aldergrove Food Bank currently gives aid to 380 registered recipients in need in Langley and Aldergrove, by providing food for meals for two days per week and long term need if required.

Representatives from the Otter Co-op was also present in support of the Food Bank fundraiser. Marketing coordinator Sean Weatherly who spoke of their local co-op’s programs in conjunction with Food Bank programs.

About the Legion

Aldergrove Legion is one of 1400 Royal Canadian Legions located in communities across the country. The Legion is a non-profit organization with 275,000 volunteer members whose mission is to serve veterans, which includes serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance and serve their communities and Canada. You do not have to be a Veteran to join the Legion.

Family community events at the Aldergrove Legion are held on Canada Day, B.C. Day, and Labour Day. Look for Aldergrove Legion volunteers at the annual Aldergrove Fair Days, the Langley Good Times Cruise-In on Sept. 9 and many other local community events.
