With the assistance of a community grant from the Township of Langley, the Rotary Club of Aldergrove was able to sponsor literacy programs to purchase books for reluctant readers at Shortreed and Parkside Elementary, with $1,650 for each school.
Also, an additional $1,650 was given to Encompass Support Services Society for a pilot program, one of six in B.C., to provide books for parents to read to their children at home. Kaylee, representing Encompass, received the cheque this week.
