Vanguard Secondary is hosting its second annual Cars and Crafts show, one of two Otter-area shows on Saturday, May 11.

Cars and crafts centres of activity in Otter neighbourhoods

Crafters, cars, kids, and fun are coming to Otter and North Otter this weekend

Langley’s Otter area will be filled with artisanship and shiny cars this Saturday.

Vanguard Secondary, housed in the former Otter Elemetary at 244th Street and Fraser Highway, will hold its second annual Cars and Crafts show in support of the school’s graduating class.

Just down the road and north on 248th Street, North Otter Elementary is hosting its Artisan Market, featuring a show ‘n’ shine, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Vanguard event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include more than 30 vendors, inside and out, who will be prepared to sell a variety of crafts and related items.

The concession is being organized and run by an award-winning BBQ competitor. Pulled pork is on the menu, along with hamburgers and hotdogs.

There will be an hourly raffle and a silent auction set up with donated goods collected by the school’s grads, who are also organizing a kid zone with games and activities.

Vanguard wants all types of vehicles to come out: “If you love it, want to share it, it has wheels, and can be considered a vehicle,” said Megan Dunstall, “bring it!”

Vanguard is Langley School District’s alternative secondary school, providing an education to those who have not been successful in other Langley high schools.

The ultimate goal is to be a different learning experience and to be socially innovative. Students are welcome, regardless of addiction issues, social or emotional troubles, behaviour and/or educational differences.

North Otter’s Artisan Market’s varied offerings include handmade items and local goods, a flea market and concession, custom cars and games, a petting zoo and a kids area.
