Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue is recruiting

An open house and information session runs on Oct. 1 at the Abbotsford headquarters.

Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue is holding an information session open to everyone interested in joining their team on Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at 1594 Riverside Road, Abbotsford.

Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue is a community service made up of un-paid professionals under Emergency Management BC (EMBC). The CFVSR is a resource to the RCMP and City of Abbotsford Police and at their request we assist in the search, rescue or recovery of missing persons on land or in water within Langley and Abbotsford. They provide First Aid and extraction of injured persons from hazardous areas, and transfer those persons to the care of the British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS). They volunteer their time for community events, inform the public on outdoor safety and support other groups in the form of mutual aid. The rescue volunteers have helped in several missing person cases this year in Langley. For more information go to cfvsar.bc.ca.
