'Gunslingers' competed at the National Fast Draw Championships last year

Again this year the Canadian Fast Draw Championships will be hosted by Thunderbird Fast Draw Club at the Aldergrove Fair Days.

The event includes a Celebrity Challenge Fast Draw featuring local politicians who will battle it out for the Men's and Women's Top Gun.

The Celebrity edition will take place at High Noon on Saturday, July 20 at the fairgrounds in Aldergrove Athletic Park. There are no entry fees and trophies for first, second and third place will be awarded.

Each of the celebrities will have a 15 minute warm-up practice and support from a world class fast draw shooter prior to the event.

Only blank ammunition is used in the single-action six-guns, which are fired at balloon targets placed eight feet away from the competitors. Electronic timers decide the winners.

Each contestant will have five shots and the persons with the lowest average times will win in their divisions.

There will also be a practice session the night before at the Langley Rod and Gun Club.

For more information on the event and the Thunderbird Fast Draw Club call Dennis Robinson at 604-540-6394 or email dennis_robinson@telus.net
