Gunfire will ring out as the Thunderbird Fast Draw Club will host the World Blank Index Fast Draw Championships at the Aldergrove Fairgrounds on July 15 and 16, 2017, making this the 10th consecutive year for this event (see more at website: www.aldergrovefairdays.com).

The sport of Fast Draw puts men and women of all ages up against modern electronic timers. All shooters, wearing western style attire, and using single-action six-shooters which are loaded with BLANKS only, must react from a light signal, then draw their guns from holsters and fire at random targets. Timers decide the winners of the various divisions.

This unique event is sponsored by the Township Of Langley, sanctioned by the World Fast Draw Association, and set up by the Thunderbird Fast Draw Club of Langley.

A Celebrity Challenge event also takes place, featuring such regulars as MLAs Mary Polak and Rich Coleman, MP Mark Warawa and others. Defenders from last year are country entertainer Robyn Gillespie, and Jason Froese of JD Turkey Farms. To witness this one-of-a-kind event, come ride the Trigger Trail with us on Saturday, July 15, starting at noon.

CHILI COOK-OFF

Back by popular demand, on Sunday, July 16, the “hottest darn chili in the valley” cook-off returns, with the chefs cooking up a storm from 10 a.m. until judging at 2 p.m.

This event has become one of the main attractions of the Aldergrove Fair Days. Entry fee for teams is only $35, and the public joins in sampling and judging the chili contestants at 2 p.m at no charge.

The award categories are: Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice Best Chili, and Best Team Name and Theme (i.e. costumes and decorations).

QI GONG SESSION

Greetings! Have you ever wanted to try a Qi Gong session?

Please join us this Sunday, July 16 at 11 a.m. on the grass by the Spirit Stage at the Aldergrove Fair for a 45 minute session with Five Treasures Qi Gong.

Through simple and gentle movements co-ordinated with the breath, Qi Gong detoxifies the body, releases tension, induces calm mental and emotional states, promotes health by harmonizing and strengthening all internal organs and body systems — and it feels amazing!

Dress comfortably – a yoga mat is not required.

Admission by donation to the Aldergrove Fair, held at 26770 - 29th Ave. in Aldergrove Athletic Park and Kinsmen Community Centre.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

The Aldergrove Fair is in need of 30 or more volunteers for this weekend!

If you have any friends or family who can help by donating four hours of volunteer time on Friday, Saturday or Sunday (July 14, 15 or 16) please e-mail: elizabeth.aldergrovefair@gmail.com
