Representatives from three local charities were the happy recipients of $3,800 each for money raised at the successful first annual Fraser Valley Family Day.
It's estimated more than 3,000 people attended and $11,400 was raised at the Family Day event held at the Langley Events Centre fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The fun day, that included bouncy castles, velcro wall, tug-o-war competitions, obstacle courses, football games, face painting, and firefighting challenges, was a way to bring family together, with entry by donation and 100 per cent of the proceeds going to three chosen charities.
"We feel really happy about how the event went but we want it to be even bigger next year," said Dana Matheson, owner of Langley based C&D Logistics, who came up with the idea to host a Family Day.
"We want to be able to double what we were able to give to these charities next year," said Lisa Ostrowercha, co-owner of Original Ginger. The Fort Langley based digital agency put in hours and hours of manual labour and were the backbone of social media and getting the word out.
Langley Animal Protection Society, the Township firefighters charitable society and Life Ready Foundation were the recipients of the cheques which were presented on Thursday at C&D Logistics.
