Langley’s International Festival is a celebration of community and cultural diversity which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28 at Willoughby Park.

There are many aspects to diversity and the festival brings that flavour to the event, from ethnic performances to tasty international cuisine to a bustling marketplace and international pavilions, a dog show, children’s pavilion, bike and car shows, said executive director Shar Dubas.

“There really is something for everyone at this year’s festival,” she said.

Visitors can enjoy international cuisine, reflecting what tastes good in Angola, Thailand, China, Taiwan, Italy, Greece, El Salvador, Portugal, Jamaica, Trinidad and Vietnam.

Sponsored by Coast Capital Savings, the 11th annual event will feature new acts, more vendors, entertainment, international pavilions, a carnival, car show, bike show, and DVKK Volkswagen’s 20th anniversary show.

Following several performances at Langley City’s Spirit Square Stage in Douglas Park, Bard in the Valley will present performances of As You Like It.

These will be at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 2 p.m. on Aug. 28.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Willoughby Community Park is at 7888 - 200 St., next to the Langley Events Centre.

Meanwhile, an event of this magnitude takes a lot of effort to organize and carry through, and it will take an army of volunteers to make it run smoothly. Anyone who is interested should check www.internationalfestival.ca. Volunteers may enter a draw to win a 50” flat screen TV.
