Langley School District created their own pink shirts for Pink Shirt Day

It is a sea of pink at most schools across B.C. on Wednesday, for Pink Shirt anti-bullying day.

But in Langley, the district decided to go its own way, creating their own pink shirts that support local efforts in bullying prevention.

Around 1,250 pink shirts were distributed in Langley schools – some via the PACs at individual schools and some via the schools themselves.

"The hope is that next year there are many more. Our goal was to provide a locally sourced version of the Pink Shirt for our students that supports and connects with our local projects and initiatives," said Langley school district spokesperson Ken Hoff.

"The imagery is taken directly from our visioning diagram and directly supports our efforts in the District to be leaders in inclusion and bullying prevention."

Assemblies were held all over Langley schools today, also with various student-led anti-bullying projects revealed.

HD Stafford Middle School held an assembly Wednesday morning, showcasing a powerful anti-bullying video created by the Grade 8 leadership students.
