Nominees sought for Langley cultural diversity awards

Awards will be handed out at International Festival society's annual awards banquet on Jan. 31.

Langley’s International Festival Society will hold its fifth annual multicultural gala dinner and awards evening on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Nominees for the awards are still being sought, with the deadline on Thursday (Jan. 15).

There will be four awards in four different categories, including youth, seniors, community services award and education.

Nominators are asked to think of a Langley resident or Langley-based organization or institution that  has made an outstanding contribution to the Langley community through their activities, work or employment. Nominees must be current residents and/or work or operate a business within Langley.

Nomination forms and details for submitting the applications are available on the society’s website, www.internationalfestival.ca.

The celebration recognizes individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the spirit of cultural diversity within the Langley community through their activities.

The banquet and awards presentations will begin at 6 p.m., and is being held at the Langley Golf and Banquet Centre located at 4343 - 216 St.

The society formerly operated the Langley International Festival and took over the Langley Canada Day event in 2014. The two events were combined for the first time last year, and were held over several days at Willoughby Community Park, adjacent to the Langley Events Centre.
