PHOTOS: More than 400 attend Aldergrove church's Halloween party

Marked second year hosting Halloween for North Langley Community Church

More than 400 kids and their parents attended the second annual North Langley Community Church's Halloween party at its Aldergrove campus on Oct. 31.

Music was lively in the church as folks dressed as Pikachu, the Incredibles, princesses, elves, and superheros partied out the night in a safe space.

Pastor Kevin Schultz estimates they handed out about 7,000 pieces of candy throughout the evening, plus 500 bags of chips, soda, and cotton candy made on site.

"It was so fun to see and meet so many people from our neighbourhood," he told The Star.

"Only a small contingent were from our church. A number of people shared stories about being at the event last year and were excited to come back."

The church had various carnival-style games including ring toss, skee ball, a fishing booth, and even bowling with pumpkins.

Schultz said there was a group of students from North Otter Elementary who came, and lots of minions.

"That was probably the most popular costume," he commented.

Since the merge with Bethel Mennonite Church two years ago, the NLCC has hosted a Halloween party on Oct. 31, continuing the previous church's long-standing tradition.

Bethel was a church at the Aldergrove campus site for more than 80 years, explained Schultz, and had hosted Halloween events for many of those years.
