A quarter century has passed since W.C. Blair Recreation Centre opened its doors and on December 10 more than 500 people came out to celebrate the facility’s 25th anniversary.

The Township of Langley held a public pool party to mark the milestone for W.C. Blair, a unique and innovative facility which features the province’s first wave pool. The celebration included free events and activities, demonstrations, birthday cake, displays of memorabilia, and - of course – swimming in the famous waves.

“W.C. Blair has been growing with the community for 25 years and it was wonderful to see so many people come out to enjoy this event, share memories, and look at what the facility will be offering in the future,” said Township community recreation manager Lesley Visser.

“A number of people remember being here when W.C. Blair first opened and now their children are the next generation to enjoy the fun and educational programs the centre provides.”

One of the highlights of the celebration was the unveiling of a mural that was created by local young artists and the Langley Arts Council through a Nothing Without Effort Township grant.
